Often times naysayers of Garage Sales, Flea Markets, or Yard Sales will come out with an excuse of why they stray away from a great bargain. So we have decided to present just one of many instances that has been in the news lately about a lady from Shreveport, Louisana who learned that she might have made one of the great mistakes of the century by selling a true hidden treasure: An original Picasso painting, potentially worth hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars but she had sold it at a garage sale.
Selling price you ask. $2.00 yes TWO DOLLARS.
The Lousiana lady who held the garage sale was helping out relatives of an an elderly neighbor who was an art collector whom passed away recently.
The deceased art collector had no local relatives and failed to sell his belongings at an estate sale the week before the garage sale was held, according to ABC news' report.
During the sale the Lousiana lady netted $500.00 that alone would make a garage sale worth one days worth of work but when she say the painting with "Picasso" written on it,she asked the deceased art collectors relatives about it and they said it was a fake and told not to worry about it.
So she sold it for $2, while the purchaser has found a hidden treasure likely to net hundreds of thousands of dollars if not more. So garage sales just for the sheer fact of having a chance to nab a painting like the one in this story makes it more than worthwhile.
With Halloween right around the corner you may be searching all over for a costume this year, but did it ever occur to you to check out a consignment store, a flea market, or a garage sale?
With any of these mediums you are sure to find a great deal on unique outfits that will be one of a kind and save you money from buying an expensive costume as well.
Toys, tools, fishing gear, lawn mowers, and who knows what else you might find as garage sales are notorious for finding someone’s trash that might be your treasure.
